The challenge: starting something new

CROSSFIT
FORGING ELITE FITNESS

The primary focus of my blog is to document my fitness progression for the benefit of myself and others. I will be doing this by posting my daily meals and my daily workouts. I am human, so in addition to my workouts and my meals I will also detail my struggles, successes and failures. For my diet I will be following the paleolithic diet with a Zone Diet influence for portion control. This type of diet existed in the Paleolithic times 10,000 years ago. There are many books and variations for this diet, but I chose to read and follow The Paleo Diet by Dr. Loren Cordian. Here is a little blurb from the site:

"The Paleo Diet is a way of eating in the modern age that best mimics the nutrition of our evolutionary and genetic heritage - the ancestral, Paleolithic diet. For millions of years our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate combinations of lean meat, seafood, plants, fruit, and nuts. But today in America, more than 70% of our dietary calories come from foods that our Paleolithic (Stone Age) ancestors rarely if ever ate ... and that modern humans are not genetically adapted to eat. The result is epidemic levels of cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis, acne, gastrointestinal disease, and more."

You can also check out Zone Diet. Thi is another great diet to follow, but it is slightly different than the Paleo. I will be following the Zone block portions with paleo foods. This is considered to be an elite diet so it will certainly enhance my fitness performance.

Being a personal trainer I am constantly involved with fitness activities. I am currently playing soccer once a week and every now and again I join in on bike rides and long runs. I intend to follow the CROSSFIT WOD's so I can quantify the improvement in my fitness performance. Crossfit is the ultimate physical challenge that pushes beyond the limits. I have been doing crossfit workouts on and off for the last year. Even on an inconsistent basis I have reaped massive improvements in strength and endurance. Here is a little blurb from the site:

"What is Crossfit?"
"CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen."

Please take the time to review the websites I have detailed in this post so you have an idea of what these regimes entail. Please feel free to ask any questions.
I hope this blog will be beneficial to those who read it by improving their health and fitness.
